Norwalk Community College (NCC)

Norwalk Community College (NCC) offers an American Bar Association (ABA)-approved) Legal Assistant Program designed to prepare students for careers as legal assistants or paralegals. The program provides two educational pathways:

  1. Associate of Science (A.S.) in Legal Assistant: This degree combines general education courses with specialized legal assistant studies, providing a comprehensive background in major areas of law practiced in legal and corporate settings. The curriculum emphasizes practical legal skills, including legal research, writing, civil litigation procedures, and ethics. Students are also required to complete an internship, providing hands-on experience in a legal setting.

     2. Legal Assistant Certificate: This certificate is intended for students who already hold an associate or higher degree with at least 18 liberal arts credits. It requires the completion of 30 credits focused on legal assistant coursework. The program strongly encourages students to take no more than three classes per semester due to the demanding and rigorous content.
